Fuuta Jalon Language
Pular (also called Fuuta Jalon, Futa Jallon, Fouta Dyalon, Fulbe, Fullo Fuuta, Futa Fula, Foula Fouta, Fulfulde Jalon, Jalon) is a Fula language belonging to the Niger-Congo language family. It is spoken in the Fouta Djallon area of Guinea, where it is an official regional language. Pular is also spoken in Gambia, Guinea-Bassau, Mali, Senegal, and Sierra Leone.
There are approximately 3 million Pular speakers worldwide.
In the 20th century, several portions of the Christian Bible were translated into Pular.
Pular has borrowed extensively from Arabic.
