Pashtu Language
Pashtu (also called Pashto, Pushtu, Pakhto, or Afghan) is an Eastern Iranian language. It is spoken by the Pashtun people in eastern Afghanistan and northern Pakistan.
Pashtu has two main dialect groupings: southern and northern. The southern dialects preserve the ancient “sh” and “zh” sounds (“Pashtu”), while the northern dialects have “kh” and “gh” sounds (“Pakhtu”).
Pashtu, along with Dari, is the official language of Afghanistan.
