Tokelauan Language
Tokelauan is an Austronesian language, belonging to the Samoic family of Polynesian languages. Along with English, it is one of the two official languages of Tokelau (population 1,700).
In addition to being spoken in Tokelau, Tokelauan is spoken in New Zealand, where more than 2,900 Tokelau expatriates reside.
Tokelauan is mutually intelligible with Tuvaluan, which is the language of the neighboring Tuvalu islands.
