Sioux Language
Sioux (also called Dakota) is a Siouan language. It is spoken in northern Nebraska, southern Minnesota, North and South Dakota, and northeastern Montana by the Sioux American Indians. It is also spoken in Canada.
Most younger generations of the Sioux prefer to speak English rather than Sioux. Some do not speak Sioux at all.
In the late 20th century, Sioux had more than 20,000 speakers worldwide.
