Marshallese Language
Marshallese belongs to the Micronesian group of the Eastern, or Oceanic, branch of the Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) language family. It is spoken in the Republic of Marshall, an island nation in the central Pacific Ocean.
While both Marshallese and English are spoken in the Marshall Islands, only a fraction of the population speaks English.
Other Micronesian languages which Marshallese is closely related to, include Carolinean, Chuukese, Gilbertese, Kosraean, Pohnpeian, and Ulithian.
