Gaelic Language
Gaelic (also called Erse, Irish language, Irish Gaeilge) belongs to the Goidelic group of Celtic languages. Gaelic is spoken in Ireland, with about 260,000 speakers in total.
The written Gaelic language dates back to the 5th century AD. Gaelic was first written in sets of notches, or strokes, before the Latin alphabet was used shortly after. The Gaelic literary tradition dates back to the 8th century.
