Fijian Language
Fijian is a Melanesian language, belonging to the Eastern, or Oceanic, branch of the Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) language family.
Fijian is spoken by more than 330,000 people residing on the islands of Fiji.
Fijian has several dialects, which are divided into Eastern and Western groups. Standard Fijian is based on the Eastern dialect of Bauan, and is called Bauan Fijian. Bauan Fijian is familiar to all native Fijians.
