Palauan Language
Palauan (also spelled Belauan) is spoken in Palau, an island nation in the western Pacific Ocean, about 500 miles southeast of the Philippines.
Palauan is part of the eastern branch of the Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) family of languages. It is one of the only two languages in Micronesia that belongs to the Western Malayo-Polynesian group (the other is Chamorro).
At the end of the 20th century, Palauan speakers numbered approximately 14,000 people.
